Content Marketing Manager

Title: Content Marketing Manager
Reporting to: Director of Marketing

Fast Forward Events is seeking a dynamic Content Marketing Manager to join the marketing team for our portfolio of B2B and B2C events including San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival and SommCon, with new launches planned for 2024.

As the Content Marketing Manager, you will play a critical role in developing and executing content strategies that drive engagement, brand awareness, lead generation, and support key goals related to attendee and exhibitor acquisition. In addition to managing content marketing initiatives, you will oversee a team of marketing professionals and collaborate with external contractors to ensure the delivery of exceptional content across various channels, with a focus on growing communities around our events.

Responsibilities:

  1. Content Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with the company’s overall marketing objectives and target audience, with a specific focus on supporting attendee and exhibitor acquisition goals.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and event operations teams to identify content opportunities that align with event KPIs and objectives.
    • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify content themes, topics, and formats that resonate with our target market.
    • Create content calendars that outline the timing and distribution of content across multiple channels, with a focus on building and growing communities around our events.
  2. Content Creation and Management:
    • Create high-quality and engaging content, including blog posts, articles, whitepapers, infographics, videos, marketing emails, and social media posts, that supports attendee and exhibitor acquisition efforts.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal stakeholders, and external contributors to develop compelling content that positions Fast Forward Events as a thought leader in the industry and encourages community engagement.
    • Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains a consistent tone, style, and messaging.
    • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and grammatical correctness.
  3.  Team Management and Collaboration:
    • Manage a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, support, and feedback on their work related to event-focused content initiatives.
    • Coordinate with internal departments, such as event operations and marketing, to gather content requirements and align content efforts with event objectives.
    • Collaborate with external contractors, such as freelance writers, designers, and videographers, to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality content that supports attendee and exhibitor acquisition efforts and community growth.
  4. Influencer Management:
    • Develop and execute influencer marketing strategies to expand Fast Forward Events’ reach and drive engagement with target attendees and exhibitors.
    • Identify and build relationships with industry influencers, thought leaders, and relevant stakeholders to secure partnerships and collaborations.
    • Manage influencer outreach, negotiation, and contract agreements, ensuring alignment with event objectives and brand guidelines.
    • Collaborate with influencers to create engaging and authentic content that resonates with our target audience and drives event participation.
    • Track and measure the impact of influencer campaigns, using data and insights to optimize future influencer strategies.
  5. Content Distribution and Promotion:
    • Develop distribution strategies to maximize the reach and impact of event-focused content, including influencer-generated content, across various channels, including website, blog, email marketing, social media, and industry publications.
    • Leverage SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and increase organic visibility, with a focus on driving traffic and engagement from target attendees and exhibitors.
    • Monitor content performance and engagement metrics using analytics tools, making data-driven decisions to optimize content strategies and improve results related to attendee and exhibitor acquisition.
    • Stay up-to-date with content marketing trends, emerging platforms, and industry best practices, integrating new approaches into event-focused content initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a content marketing role, preferably working with events and trade shows
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt writing style and tone for different target audiences and in alignment with brand voice
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful content marketing campaigns that meet organizational objectives
    Skilled in content ideation, creation, editing, and optimization with knowledge of best practices and nuances across various channels
  • Proficient in using content management systems, email marketing and social media management tools, marketing automation platforms, and analytics tools
