In 1973 a small group of grape growers and wine producers created the Monterey Winegrowers Council, renamed Monterey Country Vintners and Growers Association (MCVGA) to establish Monterey County as a premium wine grape-growing region. The MCVGA retained Fast Forward Event Productions to launch its San Diego Tasting featuring over 40 if its producers drawing a sell out crowd of both consumer and trade audiences.
